Adopt a tree
Tropicual Mangrove S.L. (trading as Tropicual)
Last updated: Aug 8th 2026 · Effective for activations and renewals from 7 September 2026
1. The programme
1.1 The Adopt-a-Tree programme is operated by Tropicual Mangrove S.L. ("Tropicual"). Under the programme, the Customer receives an annual supply of Tropicual Extra Virgin Olive Oil, together with the associated benefits described in these terms.
1.2 The principal subject of the contract is the supply of 6 litres of Tropicual Extra Virgin Olive Oil per membership year. The tree designation, name plate, visit and other benefits described below are ancillary to that supply.
1.3 Tree adoption is not a legal transfer of ownership of the designated tree, nor of the land on which it sits. The term "adoption" is used for its emotive connotations and shall not be interpreted otherwise.
2. What the Customer receives
2.1 Olive oil. 6 litres of Tropicual Extra Virgin Olive Oil per membership year, supplied as 2 × 3-litre bag-in-box. Depending on harvest and production conditions, Tropicual reserves the right to amend the format in which the olive oil is supplied in any given year. The quantity of 6 litres and the grade (Extra Virgin) are guaranteed.
2.2 A designated tree. Tropicual designates a specific tree for the Customer and provides its location.
2.3 A name plate. The Customer may choose a name to be printed on a support item — a bird house or insect hotel — which is affixed to the designated tree. Tropicual designates the tree and has final choice over the support item.
2.4 A certificate. An electronic certificate, showing the location of the designated tree, is included at no additional cost and is issued after activation. A printed and framed certificate is available as a paid optional extra for EUR 15 (Spanish VAT inclusive) at the price shown at the time of ordering. Customers who joined before 7 September 2026 and already received a printed certificate retain it; the electronic certificate applies to new activations and to replacements.
2.5 A visit. The Customer is invited to visit their tree at any time, by arrangement with Tropicual, and will receive a tour of the olive grove and an olive oil tasting at no charge.
2.6 Member discount. 15% off Tropicual products and experiences for the duration of an active membership, applied as communicated by Tropicual from time to time. The discount does not apply to the membership fee itself and may exclude items already discounted or sold at promotional prices.
2.7 An annual update. A once-a-year newsletter from the grove.
3. Price and payment
3.1 The membership fee is EUR 109 per year for Customers in eligible EU territories and GBP 109 per year for Customers in the United Kingdom. Prices are shown inclusive of any Spanish VAT applicable at the point of sale.
3.2 The membership fee is charged when the subscription is activated, and thereafter upon renewal.
3.3 Tropicual may change the membership fee. Any change will be communicated to the Customer in writing at least 30 days before the renewal date to which it applies. The Customer may cancel before that renewal date if they do not wish to accept the new price. Tropicual will honour the price in effect at the time of each renewal for the membership year that renewal covers.
3.4 The Customer may withdraw from the contract within 14 days of activation and receive a full refund of the membership fee, provided the box has not yet been dispatched. This right does not apply to the olive oil itself once dispatched, as a perishable foodstuff, nor to a printed certificate once produced.
4. Shipping
4.1 Shipping is included in the membership fee for deliveries to the territories listed at tropicual.com/adopt-a-tree/shipping. That list forms part of these terms and may be updated by Tropicual; any removal of a territory will be communicated to affected Customers at least 30 days before the renewal date to which it applies.
4.2 Tropicual is unable to offer the programme to territories outside the published list.
4.3 Import fees, customs duties, clearance charges and any carrier handling fees for deliveries outside the European Union — including the United Kingdom — are not included and are the responsibility of the Customer. These are levied by the destination country and its carriers, not by Tropicual.
4.4 Tropicual may change its shipping arrangements in response to significant increases in shipping costs. Any change will be communicated to the Customer at least 30 days before the renewal date to which it applies.
4.5 A box cannot be split and will be shipped to a single address.
4.6 The Customer is responsible for keeping Tropicual informed of their correct shipping address. Where a shipment fails or is returned because the address held by Tropicual is incorrect, incomplete or out of date, or because the Customer does not accept delivery or does not pay import charges due, Tropicual may charge the cost of re-shipment before dispatching again.
5. Timing, harvest years and availability
5.1 Olive oil is supplied from a specific harvest. Harvest takes place in the autumn, with production typically completed in October and November.
5.2 On activation, the Customer is enrolled either in the current harvest year or the next, depending on whether stock from the current harvest remains available at the moment of activation. Which harvest year applies is shown to the Customer before payment.
5.3 Where oil from the current harvest is available at activation, the Customer's box is shipped as soon as practicable. Where it is not, the Customer is enrolled for the following harvest and their box ships once that harvest has been produced.
5.4 While every effort is made to ship promptly, Tropicual guarantees only that a box will be shipped no later than the end of April of the calendar year following the production date of the harvest it is drawn from.
5.5 Adoptions are limited in number. Tropicual may decline new subscriptions when no further trees are available to the programme.
6. Renewal
6.1 Membership renews annually on 7 September.
6.2 Tropicual will notify the Customer by email approximately 30 days and approximately 7 days before the renewal date.
6.3 A membership is renewed when the membership fee for the new year has been paid.
6.4 No Customer will be charged a renewal fee within 90 days of activation. Where activation falls within 90 days of 7 September, the first renewal is deferred to 7 September of the following year.
6.5 Automatic renewal. Renewal is automatic. The Customer authorises Tropicual to charge the payment method held on file on the renewal date, and to retain that payment method for this purpose. The Customer may cancel at any time before the renewal date.
7. Before your box ships
7.1 In advance of shipment, Tropicual will contact the Customer with a link to confirm their delivery address and, if they wish, to add further items from the Tropicual catalogue to their box at the member discount.
7.2 Any items added are paid for at that point, in addition to the membership fee.
7.3 If the Customer does not respond within the stated window, Tropicual will ship the box containing the included 6 litres to the address held on file.
8. The name plate
8.1 The name supplied may be a given name, a nickname, a family surname, or a company or organisation name, provided it is not offensive.
8.2 Tropicual may reject any name it considers inappropriate for any reason — including names too long for the support item — and will contact the Customer to agree an alternative.
8.3 The support item and printed name will fade over time. Tropicual makes no guarantee that the name will remain visible or legible, but will endeavour to replace the support item over the lifetime of the membership so that it does.
9. Cancellation and refunds
9.1 The Customer may cancel at any time, provided the box has not yet departed Tropicual's facilities.
9.2 Where a membership is cancelled after dispatch, Tropicual may at its discretion offer a refund if an alternative subscriber can be found in good time, bearing in mind that the olive oil is a fresh product made to order.
9.3 Once delivered, the olive oil cannot be returned, as a foodstuff.
9.4 Tropicual may end the programme at any time. Where a Customer has paid for a membership year and the corresponding box has not been shipped, that Customer receives a full refund of the membership fee paid for that year.
10. Communications and data
10.1 Personal information collected in the course of the programme will not be sold or shared with third parties, other than as necessary to fulfil and deliver the Customer's order. It is used only for communication about the Adopt-a-Tree programme while the membership is active. Tropicual's full privacy policy is at tropicual.com/privacy.
10.2 Tropicual will communicate any material changes to these terms, and other necessary communications, by email to active Customers at the address provided. Customers are asked to keep Tropicual informed of any change of email address.
