Inspired by Nature

Now in the dedicated hands of its fourth generation, Tropicual’s groves are home to olive trees that have flourished for over a century. Today, Lucia and her husband Albert carry forward the legacy of sustainable organic farming ignited by her parents. Blending tradition with innovation, the Tropicual way is defined by passion, respect, and ambition.

Excellence
At Tropicual, we set high ambitions for ourselves, and there’s no greater reward than the recognition of our peers. Year after year, our dedication has been honored with awards, including at the prestigious New York International Olive Oil Competition. More recently, in 2024, our very first submission to a national contest—Ecotrama in Córdoba—earned Tropicual a Special Mention as the best small organic producer. In an industry where the scales rarely tip in favor of smaller producers, this award, along with our standout De Vega olive oil, proved that passion and quality leave a lasting mark.
The Abuelos
Manuel and Francisca, Lucia’s grandparents, shared a deep devotion to their land. With unwavering dedication, they harvested their olives just as generations had before them—by hand. For three months each winter, they tended to their orchard, carefully picking from every tree, one by one, without the aid of mechanized tools. It was a labor of love, carried out by just the two of them—though, on occasion, a trusty donkey may have lent a helping hoof.
The Organic Way
Every system has its limits, and Luciano knew it was time for a different approach. Our trees were struggling, and traditional farming offered no solutions—there was no miracle fix. Determined to find a better way, Luciano, Lucia’s father, immersed himself in organic farming, studying books and courses that revealed a whole new philosophy—one that worked in harmony with nature. Instead of chemicals, he introduced natural predators to combat pests, enriched the soil with beneficial bacteria, and let the grass grow freely. It was a bold gamble, but after a few years, it paid off—our trees grew stronger, healthier, and more abundant than ever.
Women in Agriculture
It is said that they don't make them like that anymore. Carmen, Lucia's mother, matriarch of the family, relishes her role in farming. She has raised her two daughters to have strong voices and high ambitions. They are certainly not afraid to pick up a weed wacker and spend the day cutting the abundant grass around our trees.
Expanding the Orchard
Albert fell in love not just with a woman, but with her culture and roots. A self-proclaimed “city boy,” farming wasn’t in his destiny—until it became his passion. Now, with the expansion of a new orchard in 2023, he has woven his own ambitions into the Tropicual vision. And as a tech-savvy innovator (and devoted fan of the original MacGyver), he brings a modern touch to traditional farming—one clever solution at a time.
Enveloped by Nature

Tropicual is a fusion of "tropical" and "Picual" — a name that reflects both the exotic spirit of our brand and our roots in Granada’s Costa Tropical, where we are headquartered. Picual, of course, is the cherished olive variety at the heart of our craft.

Our packaging draws inspiration from furoshiki, the traditional Japanese art of wrapping. Each label is adorned with the vibrant flora and fauna of our orchards, embodying our deep respect for nature. With this design, we aim to honor both the tradition of wrapping precious gifts and our commitment to eco-friendly elegance.

Connected to Nature

Each year, a single olive tree produces around 50 kg (110 lbs) of olives—enough to yield 6 liters (203 fl. oz.) of exquisite olive oil. When you adopt a tree, we designate a specific one just for you and send you its yearly equivalent production.

Your support helps us plan our farming and production sustainably. As a token of appreciation, we’ll attach either a birdhouse or an insect hotel (your choice!) to your tree, creating a haven for wildlife—an essential part of organic, regenerative farming.

And we keep you updated with videos on the trees activities such as pruning, fertilizing and harvesting.
